After careful consideration, the Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Veterans Week of Golf (WOG).

As you are aware, the prolonged wet weather has left our course absolutely sodden. Large areas remain heavy underfoot, several sections of turf have suffered damage, and even light rainfall continues to prevent golf carts from accessing the course proper. Unfortunately, there is no realistic prospect of the course recovering to a safe and playable condition before the first scheduled competition day.

A major factor in our decision is the likelihood that golf carts will not be permitted. Many of our members and visiting players rely on carts, and without them, a significant number would be unable to participate.

We understand this cancellation is disappointing, particularly given the work already undertaken by volunteers and staff.

However, we believe this is the fairest and most responsible decision for everyone involved.
